Sports and Games

The college has always encouraged its students to organize and participate in sporting activities both inside and outside the college. The students’ union under the guidance of a Sports committee, headed by the Principal and comprising teaching, non-teaching staff and students, plays a pivotal role in organizing its sporting events. The Annual Sports Day is observed every year with great fanfare with the staff and the students participating in various events in large numbers. A common room tournament is organized by the students’ union where competitions in Carrom, Table Tennis, Chess etc. is also held every year. A day and night cricket match is organized every year between staff and students of the college. In addition, the college regularly participates in tournaments organized by Calcutta University and other organizations. The performance of the football team, cricket team and the swimming team has been quite commendable. The swimming team emerged as the champion in the inter-college swimming championship of Calcutta University in past years. The cricket team came third in the inter- college cricket tournament in 2018. The football team also lived up to its reputation and won district level championship in 2019.
